Oftentimes our thoughts and desires are disordered or outright evil, and so it would be better to actually repress them. Better still would be to become the kind of person who has good thoughts and good desires, and this is possible not by expressing oneself, but by taking part in something greater than oneself. And of course, as Christians, we know what that is.
